House & Garden
The client wanted his new orangery to open onto a west-facing terrace with firepit for entertaining.

My solution also involved moving the master bedroom to open onto this terrace: its previous location with a window next to the front door lacked privacy.

Outdoors, the raised garden was cut away into a series of  niches for planters, corresponding to full-height windows in the orangery.

To the side, connecting the upper terrace with the lower garden, ugly concrete steps were replaced  by a gently-curved stepped bridge in stainless steel and glass.

At the upper level, practical needs were met by moving a shed and drying space into the corner of the plot, separated from the orangery by a screen and planting.
